A New Approach to Music Education
BPS Studio was created with a simple idea: to bridge the gap between traditional private lessons and music schools. While most students have to choose between one or the other, BPS Studio combines the strengths of both, offering the structure and professional environment of a music school together with the flexibility, personal attention, and individual learning experience of a private teacher. ABOUT YOUR TEACHER
My name is Gerard Chumilla, and I have always believed that teaching is not simply about explaining concepts or transmitting knowledge. Above all, it is about guiding and supporting each student's journey, being there as they discover, question, progress, and gradually make a language that once felt unfamiliar become their own.
With over 10 years of experience teaching saxophone and piano to students of all ages and levels, together with a Master's degree in Music Pedagogy, I have developed my own educational philosophy and teaching approach. Through BPS Studio, my goal is to share not only musical knowledge, but also a lifelong passion for learning, creativity, and personal growth through music.
My experience teaching in both private lessons and music schools has shown me that there is still room for a new approach to music education. One that combines the structure, resources, and long-term vision of a music school with the flexibility, personal attention, and individual learning experience of private tuition. BPS Studio was created to bring these two worlds together and offer a modern learning experience centred entirely on each student's musical development.
The Studio
Located in the beautiful St. Johann district of Basel, the studio offers an inspiring setting where students can learn, grow, and enjoy the process of making music.
The studio is acoustically treated to provide an optimal learning environment and high-quality sound experience, with access to a carefully maintained upright piano.
